Think about what we have learned about Auggie so far. At the end of the chapter, Auggie had the weekend to think about what happened at school and was sure he wasn't going back to school again. What do you predict he will do?
I feel bad for August because one of his only friends is Jack and now August realized that Jack isn't really his friend and that he's just pretending to be his friend because the principal Mr. Tushman told him to be friends with August. To add on to this, now I think that August is gonna quit school.
Srihan--I, too, felt badly for August. I could not imagine finding out about a friendship the way August did with Jack. I have been really thinking of August as a character. Are there any other readers that feel the same as Srihan in that August is going to quit school? What other predictions do you have and why?
This was a tough one for me too. Poor Auggie must struggle with this all the time and wondering who his real friends are. I think that he is used to being hurt by 'friends' so he will stick with it because he is used to having people hurt him. : (
This is terrible! I cannot imagine the thoughts going through Auggie's head. To think you have a true friend only to find out that it was an arranged friendship is upsetting to say the least. I agree with you Srihan in thinking he may quit school, I'm just not sure what he'd tell his parents. I can't wait to continue reading!
I was so upset about this part too because I thought Jack was a true friend. There's no excuse at all for the awful things Jack said, but do you think maybe he just gave into peer pressure?
I think that he does not want to go to school but his mom is going to make him u to school. When he is at school he is going to have fun and make friends then have a good time.
August seems like he is getting braver everyday. Do you think he will go up to Jack and tell him that he heard what he said and he hurt his feelings?
I was really upset with Jack in this section. It broke my heart to think that he was only pretending to be a true friend to Auggie. I'm disappointed in Jack as a person.
I felt sorry for August because he was really enjoying going to school even though it was scary for him at first. He must of been hurting pretty bad if he skipped trick or treating .
I think that August will go back to school and not sit with Jack and sit with Summer instead because Summer has been really, really nice to August and she doesn't care what August looks like. She just likes that August is really, really nice and that is what a true friend would do.
I already know what happens so I have no predictions. But even though Jack said that bad stuff about Auggie, I still don't think Jack is a bad person because even though the things that he said were mean, I think that deep down inside, Jack didn't mean it. I think that Jack was just acting like that because he was around Julian and I also don't think that he's a bad kid because everyone makes mistakes and says stuff that could be mean, but to me, that doesn't define you as a person.
I hope so Gina! And you're right. Everyone does make mistakes, but he would have to owe Auggie a serious apology and earn back his trust if he wants to be friends again.
I also agree with Gina, I read the book to so I have no predictions. But, I do know that you learn something new every time you read a book even though you've read it before. So what I think is that, Auggie will somehow become friends with Jack again because everyone makes mistakes and sometimes say what they don't mean. And in the end they never really wan't to lose a friend. Even though I think Auggie will forgive Jack in the end I know it had to have hurt Auggie because in the book it said, that August didn't even feel well enough to go trick-or-treating and they said he LOVES to go trick or treating. Either way sometimes the actions that a person does, is not the way they actually feel about it.

ReplyDeleteI agree Samantha
DeleteI think that Tristan will go to the office for being rude.
ReplyDeleteIf he does go to the office, what do you think his consequence should be? What would you do if you were the principal?
