  1. I wonder what Stanley's great-great grandfather did create this cruse upon him and his family. I think this because I get that he would get cursed, but not his fellow family members.

  2. I wonder if Stanley will really have to dig a hole because in the beggining of the book Mr.Sir said "You'll have to dig a hole once every day for eighteen months which is how long you'll be here at Camp Green Lake." The reason of why I wonder this is because it's already been one day and Stanley hasn't dug a hole and Mr.Sir said "You'll be digging holes once every day for eighteen days."
I also think that Camp Green Lake not nice or kind because they won't even give the campers anything to drink or eat. I think this because everyone needs food and water to survive and if you don't get enough food and water, you won't be able to survive, I mean just because they don't behave or act nice and kindly doesn't mean there not humans and because they are humans, you have to treat them as such.

  3. I liked the first six chapters of the book, Stanley is an interesting character,I feel bad for how he was made fun of in school and how he was arrested for a crime he did not commit. Looking forward to reading more.

  4. Riley D, Samantha and Kylie. I thought the same thing when I was reading the Holes book Ch.1-6. I feel like Stanley is a complicated character, that means he faces lots of trouble. I also think that the bully at school named Derrick Dunne actually stole the sneakers and dropped them on purpose on Stanley so he would get in trouble by the cops/police, and then called the police to blame it on him, when he didn't even do it. I think this because Derrick is a bully, and bullies treat people unfair, so he might have done that to Stanley so he would go to Jail or Camp Green Lake.

  5. I feel sad that Stanley is being punished when he really didn't do anything. I don't think he should have to go to Green Lake. The other kids there aren't very nice to him.

  6. I am so excited to be reading this book together with everyone. Alejandra, "complicated" is the perfect way to describe Stanley. He is always getting into trouble even though he is a good kid. Unfortunately, he is always at the wrong place at the wrong time and is the victim of a lot of unfortunate circumstances. I can't wait to read all your responses.

  7. I believe that what Stanley was saying is true and that he is innocent, but I don't understand how the shoes could of just fell on top of him and hit him on the head. Probably if he had lied a little bit about what had happened he would not of had to go to Camp Green Lake, and would still be at home with his family

    1. Ryan, I love your thought process. Even though he was telling the truth, it seems impossible from the story he told. What do you think he could have said?

    4. I do too! I love how this author includes stories INSIDE the story. They give you a lot of insight into the characters.

  9. I think Stanley should have not gone to jail because he just found the shoes and he did not know who they belonged to. He was not a bad boy so he doesn’t deserve to go to Camp Green Lake. I think before the shoes hit him in the head he had a very good life and it all just vanished. His mother, father, his home, and everyone he knew was no longer with him. I feel bad for Stanley. I like this book so far because it is very interesting and is a little odd.

    1. I very much agree with you Ryan! I feel like Stanley was "in the wrong place at the wrong time". I am wondering how the shoes fell from the sky? That did seem a bit odd. This is certainly a book that you have to read closely or you might miss out on some important clues.

  10. Yes Alejandra and Riley D, I also feel bad for Stanley. It doesn't seem like his life at home is very easy, although it does sound loving. I am wondering why the teachers did not stop the bullying rather than thinking it was funny that a smaller boy could bully a bigger boy? I am anxious to read on to learn more.

    1. I certainly feel bad for Stanley. It does seem like he is telling the truth, though it does make me wonder how a pair of sneakers "fall from the sky".

  13. I feel bad for Stanley that he had to go to Camp Green Lake even though he didn't do anything wrong.

    1. I agree Srihan. He seems to be telling the truth, but how did the shoes just "hit him in the head"? There has to be more to the story.
