Welcome to the "Together We Can...Read" blog!
This blog hosts our school project in which the entire school reads the same book. Why are we doing this? Well, we LOVE to read! The book we chose is Wonder. by R.J. Palacio. By having our entire school community read the same book, we can truly share the love of reading. Students across all grade levels can talk about the book. We expect our school and community to be buzzing!
Your favorite Village teachers will be reading different sections of the book. Please feel free to follow along or listen along. Not only is our One Book, One School project fun, it is also beneficial to our students. When students are exposed to texts above their reading level, they are able to expand their vocabulary. Listening to the story being read aloud will also provide models for fluent reading. Increased listening comprehension, conceptual understanding and increased attention spans are other benefits too.
There will be opportunities for you to comment on the blog after listening/reading to the sections posted. Please join our conversation. All blog comments will be monitored before appearing on the blog.
Feel free to pick up your copy of Wonder at the Middletown Public Library or at Barnes & Noble. The Holmdel location has some set aside for us!
We hope you and your family join us as we read Wonder together.

I think Charlotte is very nice.

ReplyDeleteUnlike Julian, I think Charlotte and Jack are really being nice to August. For instance, I think this because when all of the other students lookede at August and secretly talked to their friends about it, Jack and Charlotte treated him with respect because he was new at the school and that he didn't know everybody yet.
ReplyDeleteYes, I always say you can consider yourself lucky if you have 2 really good friends you can count on and trust, so let's hope Jack and Charlotte are true friends!
DeleteI think that Summer is going to be a really good friend to August because of how she sat with him at lunch and started to interact with him. Also, Summer said bye when she saw August on their way out of the school. All this text evidence proves that Summer will be a loyal and good friend to August.
